AAP criticises K'taka govt's "attempt" to crush farmers' agitation

Bengaluru (The Hawk): B.T. Naganna, the secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Karnataka, denounced on Thursday the use of force by the police against farmers from about 20 different districts of the state who had gathered in Mandya demanding fair and remunerative prices (FRP) for a variety of crops, including sugarcane.

"The farmers have been protesting for the previous 52 days, but the state administration has paid no attention to their demands," Naganna stated during a press conference at the AAP headquarters in this location. The state government is making an effort to prevent the agitation in order to avoid embarrassment since Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting the state. The government has now turned to using excessive police force to subdue the protestors as punishment. By taking down the protesters' tents and arresting them, the police have engaged in atrocities. By doing so, the government is ignoring the farmers' right to protest.

If Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai cares about the farming community, the AAP leader argued, he should have at the very least talked to them.

"It appears that the CM is preoccupied with getting ready for the elections and expanding the Cabinet and is not bothered to consider the concerns of the farmers. Farmers in the state should band together to end BJP government because they have been neglected, according to Naganna.

"The CM places more value on the party leaders. Due to Amit Shah's visit to the state, the winter session of the Assembly, which was supposed to expire on December 30, ended on December 29. By refusing to hold debates on a number of crucial matters involving the state, the BJP has also wasted the proceedings, according to Naganna.
